Application & Functionality

Play any notes on your MIDI keyboard and see the recognized chord instantly. You can configure how it’s displayed—text, musical notation, and more—based on your learning preference.

JazzPianoLab includes multiple preconfigured chord profiles (Jazz, Pop, Classical, etc.) and lets you create up to 5 custom profiles. You can rename chords, add new ones, and set rules for display, inversion behavior, and simplification.

This feature allows mapping complex chords to simpler equivalents (e.g., C13 → C7). It’s ideal for beginners or teachers who want to ease into jazz harmony without being overwhelmed.

Yes! The app includes highly customizable drills for:
  • Intervals
  • Chords
  • Chord Progressions
You can choose the exact chords or progressions, the key(s), and how the keys change (e.g., randomly or by interval).

You can show just the symbol (e.g., Dm7), or also include music notation — great for students learning to read or connect visual shapes to sound.

Yes! Create training sessions that play intervals, chords, scales, or progressions. You’ll hear the sound and must identify and play it correctly on your MIDI keyboard.

Yes! The built-in metronome supports:
  • Custom tempo & sounds
  • Any time signature (including odd meters)
  • Experimental forms (e.g., bar 1: 4/4, bar 2: 5/8, bar 3: 3/4, etc.)

Yes, JazzPianoLab is built around MIDI keyboard\synthesizer support. You’ll get the best experience this way.
